Norwich Cathedral contains memorials in honour of over a thousand people.
The kinds of memorial vary enormously. Some are to individuals who might have their own elaborately carved memorial or a stained glass window in their memory. Some are remembered heraldically in carved and painted coats of arms. Others have their names remembered in beautifully lettered books such as the Royal Anglian Regiment Rolls of Honour, a page of which is turned daily.
Many of the memorials are works of art in their own right.
Every year we receive many visitors who come specifically to try and find the name of a deceased relative or ancestor.
We keep an up to date list of all names at the Welcome and Information desk. Please consult the Welcomers on duty should you want help in finding the location of the memorial for a particular name.
