On 4 May 2010 the Rt Revd Graham James preached a special sermon to celebrate the official opening of the Hostry and its sister building the Refectory.
The thanksgiving service was held in the presence of HM the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
In his sermon, he explained that these buildings were the culmination of a dream dating back 40 years; built on a rock of prayer, faith and hard work this project is the largest addition to an English medieval cathedral since the Reformation.
